More on that timetable.

I'm uploading the JPG version here. Still best if you get the actual stuff, assuming this one's a bit more pixelated. But I'm doing this for the blockheads people who have difficulties logging in to the LMS System.

[click the picture to enlarge.]

There was also a buddy system, but from the looks of it, there was no difference from what we set up in 07 / this year [depending on when you read this.].

Merry Christmas! [for real]

Here's wishing you ...

Merry Christmas!

Sunday, December 23, 2007

Hey there, how's your holiday?

I hope you've been able to get a break just before the school reopens!

Anyway, just 2 reminders....

Firstly, don't get carried away with the holidays. You have holiday assignments!

Secondly, it's the holiday season. Specifically, it's the Christmas season. Christmas is a time of giving. In the festivities, we should always think of those around us and take this opportunity to be grateful for the things they have done to you. Why not get a gift for them? or even better, make one yourself! After all, it's not about the amount, it's about the thought and the consideration.

Now, I have to start packing. leaving for Indonesia this afternoon. See 'ya in '08!

P.s.: Just wanna thank Isaac Wong, Jasper + Jack and his bro for coming for the concert! Sorry, your mom wasn't there, Jasper. apparently, she was either busy or ill... crap i forgot, which was it?

Friday, December 21, 2007

Merry Christmas in advance!

Christmas is 4 days away!

So here's a pre-Christmas message to serve as a reminder...

Have you bought your presents?

How's the decorations?

Erm, what's cooking for Christmas?

and by the way, what about the Christmas songs?

Well, I have a recommendation.

No, I'm not going to advertise the choir concert again. We've sold all our tickets. So, thanks to those who have purchased or ordered tickets. [Isaac Wong, remember to get them from me later in the day!]

My recommendation for a Christmas album: "Follow The Stars" by Agapella.

Agapella is actually a group of local A Cappella Singers who are also Christians! They are from different churches, different works of life, but they've come together to make music and praise the Lord [and complain about the pains of Christmas!]. They were started in 2002, and they've finally released their first album in time for Christmas.

The album has a couple of songs which will sound familiar, such as "I Will Follow Him", from the movie "Sister Act", as well as the classic stuff like "We Are The Reason", "O Come All Ye Faithful", "O Holy Night", as well as some of their own recipe. All the songs are done in a cappella, of course. But nevertheless, it's still a nice album to tune to for this holiday season.

Check out the album at most Christian shops, HMV, Gramophone, and at their gigs. they have gigs at Esplanade on 20 and 21 December at Esplanade Concourse, open to the public, at 3 time slots (6.45pm, 8pm, 9pm)

And, yes, i did check out their gig [2 of them, actually.], bought their album, etc...

Hey people :) just want to share something with u guys:) This is the first part

I went on a mission trip this month to Raub,Malaysia to the Orang Asli people. The guy who was the one who penetrated their society and shared the gospel to them, shared something with us.

Let me give you some background knowledge about this person first. He evangalises to the Orang Asli people, is extremely poor, and all the money he gets from donations all go to buying foodstuff for the Orang Asli and towards saving more people. Most importantly, he has no need to lie for it wouldn't bring him any benefits.

Okay so, he asked us one question,

"do you know what fruit on earth, as in can be eaten, can be found in heaven?"

Now for you guys to figure it out
Go look it up in the NT. i'll post the second part in a few days time.

4sa08 poll REOPENED. [oh, holiday assignments, too]

[long post. I know. but read through. It's important, and it's worth the effort.]
yes, the poll is opened up again for those who missed the chance to vote for their preferred address / blogname for the 4SA'08 class blog.

Do note that I set for the poll to end / close at 12.01PM on 26 Dec 07.

[That's 1 minute past noon on Boxing Day, for the English-English-speaking demographic. And I mean seriously English-English.]

Also, I just want to confirm before I make a mistake, what is our holiday homework? Please comment if this list has mistakes.
[separated by subject groups to make things clearer]

-A MATH: holiday homework\ online
-E MATH: holiday homework\ online

-PHY: Project by 21Dec07
-CHEM: Just come for Holiday lessons to find out...

-BIO: read Chpt 14 & 15 of TB, do WS 17 & 20.
-ART: O Level Preliminary Studies: You should have consulted Ms Chua on related images by 2Nov07, so research on 2 related artists once you have the theme to focus on.
>POA: I heard there was something...
>LIT: no idea...

>TAMIL: I believe Mr Muthu has uploaded something for you guys on the Online Learning.
>CL: Under Mdm Chong's workspace, "CHINESE_2007_SEC_3_EXPRESS Chinese", there's a file labelled "2007年中三快捷班年终华文假期作业.doc". 够明显了吧!
-HCL: Mdm Wang gave us the Beatty Sec Sch Internal HCL FYE paper. That's Holiday homework!
>CLB: Mr Koh posted some holiday homework online as well...

>Combined Humanities: none as far as I am aware, and as the Online Learning site has not hinted to me.

Stuff you can check out to spend your time on...

1. Joost I recommended this on my blog before. It's basically an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) app that lets you watch tons of stuff online. It's legal, it's free, and it's better in quality than YouTube. [Broadband highly recommended, though.]

2. Adobe Photoshop Exchange beta No, it's not a free version of photoshop. But it's a place to check out "Actions" or plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop. Most of the plug-ins and actions are free. [Photoshop needed]

3. Facebook If you aren't already on this site, it's basically another MySpace / Friendster: A Social Networking Site. But it's fun! That's all you need to know!

4. Fake Steve Jobs' blog Imagine this is what Steve Jobs thinks... [p.s.: for those who don't know, he's the CEO of Apple Inc., the company which sells iPods, Macs, Apple TV, and iPhone. Yes, I'm an apple fanboy, but that's just me.]

5. Last.fm Music discovery app. Download and install the Last.fm app, it'll detect what's playing in your iTunes library, then make recommendations based on what you like and what others who are like you listen to. It sounds complex, but it's cool, trust me.

6. Mocca You heard of Mocca before, I'm sure [unless you have been living without a TV for the past semester, then I pity you.] Oh, WoW fans, if you have $500, here's something under "Miscellaneous". Thought it might be interesting...

What's with Pokémon?

I mean, seriously.

Weren't we done and over with since Primary 2 or Primary 3?

What's the deal?

Why is there a repercussion?

This is wrong!!!

NO!!!

I CAN'T APPROVE!

THIS MUST BE STOPPED!!!

[*HITS MY PILLOW REALLY HARD (to show violent objection)]

Enjoy your weekend!

{P.s.: I liked Squirtle... when I was in P2! Let's move on, people!}

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Squirtle is the sexiest pokemon.

SQUIRTLE IS SEXY! OH SO VERY VERY VERY SEXY.
DON'T YOU PEOPLE THINK SO?
HE'S BLUE!
AND HE HAS A SHELL!
AND HE CAN SHOOT WATER AT YOU!
HOW COOL IS THAT!?

Just a quick question...

What should we do with this blog after 26 October 2007?

Should we abandon the blog, leaving it to die?

Should we move over to a 4sa blog? I was thinking saints4sa08.blogspot.com. We can move the blog over to a new address really easily... if we do so...

Should we just forget the whole idea of a class blog from then thereof?

Should we keep to sass3sa2007blog.blogspot.com until we graduate? [heh. unlikely. I won't allow this.]

What should we do?

Suggestions?

p.s.: im going to 'squat' on the blog url after i finish this post, so that the "jokers" can't get to it.

UPDATE: on 2nd thought, I won't violate the terms of condition of Blogger.I'll do a poll first...

EXAMS ARE OVER!

Major cosmetic changes!

Comment! Hope you like the new look!

Class T-shirt Warning

Hi...

Have you guys notice that the some of the prints at
the back of the shirt often gets flaked off when washed..

My advice?

  1. Wash the shirt inverted
  2. Wash with your own sweet hands...
Do these to ensure that your shirt last long...
don't be lazy

Regarding the Chem paper...

Not sure about you guys, but I felt that Isaac Cheong could be right. The question did contain an error...

Section B: the question regarding the yield of the salt NaBr.

It was stated that the concentration of NaOH was o.8mol dm-3...
and the volume of the NaOH was 25.0cm3

Technically, we were supposed to divide 25.0 by 1000 to get the volume in dm3

And if you did that, the final answer you would have gotten may be 689% had you assumed the experimental yield was 14.2g...
Obviously, yields cannot exceed 100%... It's impossible in real life...

But if you used 1.42g, the answer would be much more logical - 68.9%.

I don't know what you think, but I think that question was wrong. Anyone else?

P.s.: I am trying not to reveal too much of that question so the absentees can have a fair test.

Oh yah... bio x-tra class!

Remember!

After Chem exam, Bio students are to proceed to Bio Lab 1 for Bio SPA practice!

This song really encouraged me during the FYE

Song: Praise You In This Storm
Artist: Casting Crowns

Verse 1:
I was sure by now
God you would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

Pre-Chorus:
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I’m with you”
As You mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

Chorus:
I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will life my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

Verse 2:
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You?

Bridge:
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

This song touched me...

hope it touches you too.

Ill try to find the song and link it.

For Peace, Encouragement and Strength

A Prayer For Peace

Dear Lord,
You are the peace that guards my heart. In times of stress, You are with me. You told me that You’ll never leave me or forsake me so teach me to trust in You in all that I need to do.
Bless me during this exam period! Thank You, Lord.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7
Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

2 Thessalonians 3:16
May the Lord of peace himself always give you his peace no matter what happens. The Lord be with you all.

A Prayer for Encouragement

Dear Lord,
You know exactly what I am going through and how I am feeling. Help me to focus on You and Your love. Take the feelings of discouragement from me, and remind me that in You, I can do ALL things. Bless me during this exam period! Thank You, Lord.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Joshua 1:9
Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

A Prayer for Strength

Dear Lord,
I know that I can count on You when I am weak. Strengthen me when I am tired and it seems too tough to carry on. I ask for Your blessings during this exam period! Thank You, Lord.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Psalm 46:1God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

Toys From the Heart

Let's bring some cheer to those less fortunate...

It was announced this morning that the 3NT students will be collecting old toys to give away as presents to less fortunate children(Primary One to Four). A simple but heartfelt community project that I'm sure almost everyone can contribute to easily.

Do take this time, amidst your busy studying (or playing!) schedules to take a few minutes and look around your room or store room for toys and games that you no longer playwith. If they are still in presentable, working conditions then don't hesitate to bring them to school any time this week so that the toys can be wrapped and redistributed to less fortunate children this Children's Day!

A simple gesture that can go a long way to make someone smile...

    Spammers issue...

    2 possibilities...

    1. We have one spammer who has access to 2 internet connections: Starhub, and SingNet.

    OR

    2. We have 2 different spammers.... one on starhub, the other on singnet.

Anyway, I have banned a RANGE of IPs so the spammer will not be able to tag except on another computer...

so, if you are using Singnet, and if you have an IP address like:

121.6.xxx.xxx, where x is any number...

then my apologies for blocking you, but the ban on the IPs are permanent, so just ask me to tag for you.

    Spammers suck [lollipops].

I'll take that as 999 page views!

    103 days... 999 views... i think we're growing at a steady rate! w00t!!!

hopefully, spammers don't read fine prints...

I'm very upset that we had another spammer today. the same as the previous spammer...

could be ee rong... [i emphasise "could be"]

anyway, the tagboard is gone... and it will remain gone ...

message to the dumbest spammer i've ever seen so far...

[that proves how few spammers i've seen so far...]

Dear Spammer who tagged under the name of "arvindH" and ":"> "with the IP address 166.121.37.232, a StarHub MaxOnline customer probably living around Potong Pasir, MacPherson, Serangoon, or Toa Payoh,

Please be mindful of who you are spoofing yourself as next time. I am not a retard. And I know I can publish this IP because you, spammer, don't use a static IP [you use starhub, so do I. That's how I know].

The dumbest thing you can do is to post as some guy who is definitely not able to access a computer at a certain point in time because they are overseas or in a camp...

And by the way, Spammer, you did that.

I mock you, because you are the dumbest spammer I've noticed... so far...

Probably heard of this before: "Think before you speak"...
Well, next time, think before you ACT.

    ronaldLIONG| I mock dumb spammers

P.S.: our tagboard acts as the stat counter for this blog... and we've reached 933 views so far!!! w00t!
P.S.S.: 3sb, your blog started earlier, so of course our view number should be lower

    First ever sass3sa2007blog tagboard controversy.

Before I start, I must say how stupid spammers are getting... I say that because I am an experienced spam analyzer.

The person who posted as "arvindH" is not Arvindh Rai.

    How do I know?

Don't need to look at the IP address...

    Look at the date.

On the day the spammer tagged, Arvindh was stuck in school for Prefects' Initiation CAMP...

And I'm sure the school does not use MaxOnline, because I notice the IP address is very similar to my IP address for the first 2 parts. (i.e.: xxx.xxx.yyy.yyy, where the x-es are the parts which are identical to my IP)

So, please do ont blame Arvindh...

I'll stick around to find out who arvindH is...

Meanwhile, read [fake] Steve Jobs' Blog!

    enjoy the minor adjustments!

just adjusted, tweaked, and modified certain things around the blog...

    -new banner...
    -new template...
    -new colour scheme...

    criticise on the tagboard!

p.s.: fyi, i fixed the pimples on andrew's face [banner]. modified the stuff in the banner quite a lot as well (e.g.: the previous banner had visible white lines and people in the background. the text on the banner was very lame.)... and at least the banner looks more interesting than the previous one... also, the banner should fit better in the templates, since i shrunk it slightly.

    Week in summary...

    quote of the week:

"Trust your calculator, provided that you know how to use it."

    -Mr Desmond Soh

    k, enough nonsense...

this week's rather plain, i guess... Only significant thing i remember about this week was Mr Gordon Goh's return from the land of the red maple leaf...

is it just me, or does Mr Goh seem kinda overworked in recent days?

there was chem remedial, dunno how that went... So how was it?

racial harmony week is this week, too... Happy racial harmony day in advance!

there was quite a lot of tests for a non common test week... That's kinda odd.

    that's all, i guess...

[feels kinda weird that this week's so boring...]

    Prize giving ceremony

Yep, prize giving ceremony's tomorrow, 3pm.

just a reminder to the prize recepients: reporting time is 1345h... School hall. Mark your attendance before going for your other duties, if any.

of course, if your duty requires you to come a lot earlier, or if you have other committments, you should know what to do...

    housekeeping matters and 'circa2007'

k,now that the class blog has [a bit] more visitors [from the class], we've some stuff for you to do...

firstly. if you have a blog, we want to link to it [and give a plug to your blog n stuff, f.o.c.]. All you need to do is just to tag with your name / nickname at the tagboard, putting down your blog address as the URL, and a message like "link me" or the likewise. Then, try to inform me [Ronald] at school so that I know. Your blog should be linked in less than 7 days from the time you inform me [verbally, not via the tagboard. that doesn't count.].

so, i hope to see the list of links lengthen soon!

second thing: just for the photobugs out there... if you're interested, there's a photo exhibtion called circa 2007.. and they're accepting entries for this exhibition. the theme is "Singaporean Singapore". the deadline is July 29th, but if you can upload to them or send the printouts by then, you'll get a chance to take part in the photo exhibition! [take note: they have a special offer for those who want to print 8R photos: $2.50 per print [for students only. show your student pass. the list of places are available here]

anyway. if you're interested, just check the website: http://www.circa.com.sg

    hi everyone...

hello everyone, im aaron, your welfare rep

it was my idea for this class blog so let me explain myself. my hope for this blog is that through this blog we can actually inform 3sa all the impt details abt sch (yawn...) and maybe express all our hatred and love we share among the class.

yup i know tt almost the whole class dont know abt this blog cos we havent offically publicise to the class yet. ron, great job on the blog, although i have been bugging u since beginning this yr. jkjk, but really great job done.

let me tell u something i think all of u dont know, this blog is actually a private blog - meaning its only open to ron, me and someone who havent revealed himself yet. we'll see what we can do, who knows maybe we can include the whole 3sa in! just give your google account to ron and he will settle them.

and btw, let ron know if you have a blog so he can tag u in

let's get to school details now:

    homework for fri 13/7
    1) chem SPA grpah
    2) e.maths tys
    subject: trigonometry
    pg 158 Q4,6
    159 Q12
    160 Q14
    161 Q7
    3) chinese newspaper report
    4) zuo ye 17

mon: rememdial has been CANCELLED due to o levels oral

wednesday: 1) Chemistry test : Acids, bases, salts, oxides, pH
    2) History test: Japan Unit 2.2 SEQ

thursday: 1) Bio test: Chpt 8 - Transport in Humans

saturday: Prize Giving Day (to all the nerds and geeks out there...)

but seriously, why does chem yeo want to give us another test on the topics which we have been tested already? and plus, honestly, how many bio groups actually met up during the holidays to 'teach' each other? does this sort of 'co-operative' teaching thing really work when all the info are found in the textbook? tag all your opinions on the tagboard. tag tag tag (but dont spam)

    gd nite everyone

    Late-breaking news...

yeah, apparently, there's some stuff we have to do for SS...

also, we have 3 graphs for Physics, just to clarify...

    good luck, last minute do-ers!!!

    Tuesday, June 19, 2007

To answer your doubts & questions...

I got this question at least 3 times...

"What's d purpose of the class blog?"

Well, at the moment, it still seems unclear...

But for now, just take the class blog as a place for "public-level announcements"...

meaning, these are the things we can announce openly without too much hush-hush...

so, no, it's not for teacher's day planning [hope Ms Seah saw that...]

it's just for stuff like homeworks, blog links, interesting class experiences / testimonials, etc...

it could be a showcase of the cool stuff some of us do / did...

or maybe just a "link page" to your youtube video on your [insert something here]

so, at the moment, the blog's like a drop of rain in the clouds, unsure of where it may land.

It may end up in the sea...
it may end up in someone's mouth...
it may end up in a sewer...
and this has no link to the blog at all....

and by the way, your essays are overdue...

An update from the Online Learning website:

"... there won't be a third piece of homework! Comprehension task has been done away with! : ) Enjoy your hols!"

So, that's one homework striked off everyone's "laundry list"...

Oh, by the way, did I mention?

The Essay assignment submission dates have passed.

So, if you have submitted them, then well done!

If not, well, what can I say? You're screwed.

Enjoy the remainder of your holidays!!!

    Reminder: Chemistry Class

    Just in case you forgot...

    7 June 2007
    8 June 2007

    Chemistry Lab

    09.00AM to 12.30PM

Bring a calculator, along with all your stationaries.

    stuff for you to do...

    k, here's da deets...

I need everyone's blog URLs so that I can compile them for the links section>>>

So, for those of you who have a blog, I will be putting up a tagboard. Just put your name as, well, your name, and the blog address as the links.

And in return, post the class blog as a link on your blog!

Anyway, do post your 'what the f*** where's this thing and that thing and i want this' childish complaints on the tagboard [when it's up and running].

By the way, the address may change, so just take note!

    Just for now...

an unidentified person told me this:
"just go ahead with the blog.."

Perhaps it was an omen? A sign of a blog to come? A blog that I have to create?

Ok, enough crap-talk. Here it is. I know you've [not] been waiting for it, so here it is at last.
